Route Updates

Space Wolves continue momentum and are nearing completion of a second-batch paint job.  I’ve started a new basing method and am using a Martian theme in order to warm up the space Wolf grey.  Enjoy!

40K SW progress

Yes! Found time and sprayed a lot. Started with the Army Painter Brush ok Primer, then a shade of black in the recesses, and finally a top coat of Army painter Uniform Grey.  The models at the front have been oil washed and finally Coated with a matte varnish. I’ll do touch up and highlights this coming week.

40k SW Progress - Slow is Smooth

First lines now shoulder pads are based. I'm going to minimize the amount of wear and rust to just the chipping aspect.  More to follow!

40k SW Swift Claw on Campaign

I love the rust and streak effects by Vallejo.  They really make a difference.  I've got to remember, less is more.

40k SW Based and Highlighted

I've been removed from spray painting for quite a few years yet I'm extremely happy with the outcome I have produced.

Looking forward to washes, highlights, and all the extras soon!

First pic is Zenithal highlight and quick shade
Second is just a base spray
Third picture shows all three stages: no paint, base paint, highlight and shade.

Space Wolves 40k First Primed

Sweet! The airbrush paint booth, vent fan, and catch box worked flawlessly.  I can't believe the pieces all still worked together without a hiccup.  As for the airbrushing, it was like riding a bike again.  The fun part was speed, cleanliness of the spray, and zero excess buildup. The models themselves were Indomitus, leftovers of a blood angels army, and of course previously tested repops.  *BTW, Repops are NOT worth the hassle.  Just buy your models and be done with it.

Shout out to Army Painter for making an awesome basing color, Specialty Resin & Chemical (SRC) for the casting materials, and Galeria for making such a great flow improver.

-enjoy!

First 40k SW WG in Terminator Armor

Here you see just the outcome. Yet, what an absolute journey and to think such a propitious day as this! I've got this dude with three left hand and one right hand options.  I've got ten more to go.  Just need time and space.  Cheers!

Long hours and a great learning experience

Wonderful outcomes finally came late this evening as we sat watching Umbrella Academy and made a few copies of a Terminator with power fist and storm bolter.  The next step will be making a few decent options for weapons.  Can't wait to get them painted.

Magnetizing Space Wolf Pack arms

I'm excited a friend of mine reminded me about rare earth magnets.  Perhaps a Kill Team list isn't that far away after all. I believe the 1/16 magnets are just large enough for small weapons but I don't think they work with anything bigger.

Progress is progress

Rain is about to pour here at our house and I've been raining paint brush strokes, glue, and drilling holes all for the All Father and Russ.  Hasn't been a fast job since the first 11 Grey hunters and Njal seemingly only took three weeks. Quite the opposite, as each one has variety and takes longer, I'm not unused to working with these models.  Wulfen are next and then work will begin on repair to a used group of SMs.

Grey Hunter Pack 2

I'm excited and thrilled my next pack is complete and looking great. I really like the use of red and yellow to help differentiate between the two packs.
Enjoy!

Grey Hunters

My first Grey Hunters have turned out exactly as planned.  I've still got pauldrons to attach as well as snow to the bases.   Otherwise, minus cleaning and sanding, i completed these five In just a few days.

SW Grey Hunter Test Model

The Grey hunters are a small and veteran squad, able to bring cc pain and firepower against their foe.  I just love their look.  I kept most of this small squad wearing helmets as the other, nearly identical squad, will have yellow markings and actual faces to paint.  All in all, a great win for me.  Now to finish pauldrons and snow effect.

The model itself took the whole day.  Cross referencing again and again color schemes for each base, layer and highlight took a toll on efficiency.  Now that I have the test model done, much better paint job than Njal, it should be a fairly fast paced time to completion.

Enjoy.

Space Wolves Saga Begins

Yahoo! I've always loved the background of Space Wolves in the 40k universe. Now, I get a chance to paint a few.  Looking forward to creating my own saga.
