This is a two part blog: miniatures and the tools that create the finished product and secondly is the other places to go to find better answers to more complex questions.

Confederates dipped
Having to rebase, prime, and dip these models is great. I'm just thankful I have something different to do besides games workshop. Minwax water based wood stain called American walnut is the dip base. I just added a bit of water and dip.
Getting away from White Dwarf, say hello to WSS Magazine?
I've certainly been preparing to jump from the Games Workshop band wagon for some time now. I love the models and the system but it's just too much. Looking for a different magazine is a little daunting. I think I've found the next best thing in Wargames Soldiers and Strategy. Maybe I'll be forward thinking and get digital copies instead of paper printed ones?

ACW, games matrix, and DBA
This is the sole picture I have of my primed Confederate infantry. I found a lot of great resource books at half price books. Wrap it all together was one great day on saturday with the wife. What was also amazing was talking to Amy at games workshop Tacoma and finding out about Game Matrix and all the really cool models there! I even learned about DBA and I can't wait to print it out and read these legendary rules.

40k Tournament rules?
Emporers Codex takes a stab at it. Good solid thought. Don't see many issues with the majority of his points. http://emperorscodex.blogspot.com/2012/07/will-nova-set-bar.html#more
Mediums and other Paint additives
heck yeah I wouldn't mind learning what took me 15 years to get from a few minutes!

Dark Future Games does seem to be spot on. You can always teach a old dog new tricks...

Pigments and Airbrushes
This is from Lost in the Warp talking about the Forgeworld pigments that are out. Look forward to trying them myself. http://www.lostinthewarp.com/2009/09/product-review-forgeworld-weathering.html
The next item I found was a great article on DakkaDakka on airbrushing your models. Looks really good and the poster has some great how-to's. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/251253.page
His airbrush is a Harder and Steenbeck model number 126543. It's an incredible looking tool but it's a huge price tag http://www.germanairbrush.com/ and a site that sells it:

Heated gun barrels and Combi-Weapons
So I was still looking around the web and found a fantastic article on heated gun barrels. From the Warp is just incredible in meeting some very interesting ideas!
http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-paint-heat-stained-gun-barrels.html
The other location is to how to combine your own combi-weapons. Who said this game took a lot of money? You just have to have ingenuity!

The back 40k and paint theory
Great theory paperwork that I personally am reading through. Great use of pictures and information founded on good hard facts. http://theback40k.blogspot.com/2010/03/little-color-theory-part-i.html
On a side note. I am working on my last black coach to get me to start on my VC again. I have almost lost the will to paint after I finished the skaven. Knowing now that it takes a bit of work to get things moving I think it will be great to start with a medium sized project. Now on to how I want to convert and use the model.

Skaven complete!
This means I completed the bell/furnace kit, finished two PCBs, a lone skaven clanrat, and of course the two winners: grey seer and plague monk. It all looks great. Looking forward to selling what I can and finishing what I can't.
Awesome paint job and Tron Templars
Who would have thought that he did it again! http://awesomepaintjob.blogspot.com/2010/04/update.html this is the entire picture and look. See above for just a snipit.
James Wappell and source lighting
Wow! James Wappel did it again! Here is his blog: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/ . His current work with an amazing Tomb King Skeleton Archer Unit is just great. I can't believe someone has hit source lighting on the head so well!
